Dear Miss Chapin

The National Academy of Design has the honor of inviting you to contribute 1 drawing [[strikethrough]] s [[/strikethrough]] to the Second Annual Exhibition of Drawings to be held in its galleries from January 3 to January 23, 1946, inclusive.

This is an invitation to participate and your work, of course, will not be subject to any jury action. By accepting, you will assist in making the exhibition an outstanding one, and in giving to fine drawings in this country the importance due them.

A letter of acceptance, with stamped, addressed envelope, is herewith enclosed for your convenience. The enclosed circular is being sent to all artists submitting to the open section of the exhibition. In your case, it is intended only for reference
that you may know how and where your work is to be sent, and the terms under which the exhibition is being held.

In the case of invited artists, as yourself, all transportation charges, both ways, and insurance in transit not to exceed $500., will be borne by the Academy. An address label is also enclosed for your convenience. Please arrange for delivery of your work to W.S. Budworth & Sons, 424 West 52 Street, New York 19, N.Y., as far in advance of December 3, 1945 as possible in order to avoid last minute congestion. Nothing will be received at the Academy. Everything must be delivered to Budworth.

The National Academy will feel greatly honored if you will co-operate, and looks forward to receiving a favorable reply from you.

Sincerely yours,

JOHN TAYLOR ARMS, Chairman
