Sculpture by Lakeville Artists on Exhibit Here

A sculpture show by two Connecticut artists, Cornelia Chapin and Marion Sanford, opened last week at the Olcott Damon Smith Gallery at the Kent Boys School. The show, entitles Sculpture Retrospective Exhibition, is open daily to the public from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.; it will close April 25.

Both artists reside in Lakeville. Miss Chapin was born in New London and studied in New York City and Paris, where she worked with Mateo Hernandez. She has exhibited in Paris, San Francisco and Philadelphia.

Miss Sanford was born in Guelph, Ontario, attended Warren High School in Warren, Pa., and studied at Pratt Institute and the Art Students League. She was apprentice to Brenda Putnam for five years. She exhibited first in 1937, and her work has since been in shows in New York City, Philadelphia, Newport, Rhode Island and Springfield, Mass.

Most of the work is in bronze and cast stone.
