R. B. Guild Hears Talk
Miss Cornelia Chapin, Animal Sculptress, Guest Speaker
RED BANK, March 22.-- Cornelia Van Auken Chapin, well-known animal sculptress, was the guest speaker at a meeting of the Women's Guild of Trinity Episcopal Church held yesterday afternoon in the parish house. The session was opened by Rev. Herbert Craig, pastor. Mrs. Harry Sutton conducted the brief business meeting and reports were read by Mrs. Edward Magee, treasurer and Mrs. Charles Seals, secretary.
Announcement was made of the rummage sale tomorrow in a store opposite the borough hall. The sale will be conducted from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. with Mrs. Frederick Munden as chairman and Mrs. Walter Rullman as co-chairman. 
Miss Chapin, who was secured through the efforts of Mrs. Walter Rullman, a guild member, discussed the molding of animals. She told of having a frog made of volcanic rock on display at the New York Exposition and a bear at the Golden Gate. Miss Chapin is a member of the jury of selection of contemporary fine arts for the New York World's Fair. She studied modeling at New York with Gail Sherman Corbett and Genevieve Hamlin, and in 1934, went to Paris to study. 
Miss Chapin has the distinction of being the only foreign and only woman sculture member of the Societaire Salon d'Automne of Paris. She received the Anna Hyatt Huntington prize for sculpture in 1936 and second grand prize of Stone Sculpture at the  International Exposition of Art and Technique in Paris in 1937 at the United States pavilion. Her work is represented in private collections in Paris, London, New York and Philadelphia. 
Hostesses at yesterday's meeting were Mrs. J. Otis David, chairman, Mrs. Warren Bookwalter, Mrs. Charles Norris, Mrs. Horton B. Garrison, Mrs. Frank Haviland, Mrs. H. F. Bartlett and Miss Margaret Christian. The refreshment table was decorated with spring flowers. Mrs. Harrison Dance and Mrs. W. Raymond Johnson poured. There were about 125 members and guests present.

GUILD NOTES:
The women of the parish and their friends are invited to attend the Guild meeting on Tuesday afternoon, the 21st, at 2:30 to hear Cornelia Van A. Chapin, outstanding woman animal sculptor. Miss Chapin comes to us out of a very busy life and we do hope that many will avail themselves of the opportunity to hear her. Recently, she has been engaged as a member of the Jury of Selection (Sculpture) Contemporary Fine Arts of the New York World's Fair.
