These Fascinating Ladies

HER entire world is wrapped up in art-being one of society's better known sculptresses...Has been so busy carving images in stone, Mayfair's "Glitterbugs" have passed her by completely...But her place in society is unquestioned...Is the methodical type of artist, doesn't procrastinate, and tries to live according to a preconceived plan...Cares little about housekeeping-finding the atmosphere of her "studio" conducive to work-the kind of work she likes...Sports interest her little. But, being a sunworshipper, adores basking in the rays of Old Sol...During the good old Summer time, whether in New York or Paris, is to be found early in the a. m. at the town zoo, modeling away for dear life-and often direct from deer life...For she carves animals from life. Feels her subjects sense her sincere interst for she seldom has trouble in "posing" them...Has very little time for readin-usually catches up diring a cold or minor ailment, and then goes in for murder mysteries...Has never smoked a cigarette in her life, but enjoys a cocketail now and then...Is particularly keen on public speaking, especially about art, and hopes some day an art lover will finance an itinerant show to give the people "in the sticks" the benefits of art enjoyed by those in the big cities...Has knack of "getting on" with people-but detests those who'll hurt anyone for the sake of a "bon mot"...Her respect for ancestral possessions and family tradition is deep. Having hailed from the Murray Hill district, was anxious to track down a studio in the neighborhood...But keeps the address a Closely guarded secret from all but a few close friends...No one has a better memory for things, faces and names-so much so that among her intimates she's known as the numan "World Almanach"...Is partial to Oriental decorative jewelry, and her favorite colors are green and orange...There's a warmth and friendliness about her that inspires confidence and invites confidences...Is invariably being chided for her punctuality and for her annoyance with people who do not keep appointments on time...In her opinion such people are presumptuous and ill-mannered...Adores flying and would give up crossing the Atlantic via steamship if trans-Atlantic passenger flights were in commission...Thinks sculpture, up to a few years ago, was the step-child of the arts, but it's future is now ell assured...Is a "hound for punishment" when it comes to work...But is definitely not the "Left Bank" or "Greenwich Village" type, and is completely devoid of that trait glorified as "artistic temperament"...Her name: Mis sCornelia Van A. Chapin.
