Personally appeared before me Edmund Rix who being duly sworn deposeth & saithet:

I reside in Pulaski Co in what is known as the Reeves Settlement. About the middle & towards the latter part of June the freedmen in and about my settlement around & below Dykesboro were a good deal excited on account of the report having spread that Gangs of men both white & cold who belonged to the Democratic Club were going about at night bagging & whipping the cold people who voted the Republican ticket. In my own settlement about the same time I was going to neighbors house at night and there saw two cold men who were armed and out watching for these bag clans who they expected that night. There was to be a prayer meeting there that night, but on acct of the expected disturbance one of the elders announced there would be no meeting that night. I have at times myself staid up all night watching for these men. I was informed that below Dykesboro the cold people got to gathener armed and were on guard a whole week waiting an attack from the bag clan. I have also been informed that the cold people reported these facts to the Bureau Agt. at Hawkinsville who said he would take steps to stop it
