Detachment 19th Infy
Augusta Nov 7th 1865.

Capt P. F. Sovaine A.A.I.

Sir,
I have the honor to submit the following report in compliance with orders received from Hd Qurs, I reported to Col Snow A.P.G. with twenty five men mounted for Instructions. I was ordered to arrest Rbt Lampkin, Wm Lampkin and Lewis Lovitt, and bring them back dead or alive. I left Augusta at 3 P.M. on the 4th inst and proceeded without delay, and as expeditiously as possible to the house of Mr. Blanchard distance from Augusta some twenty five miles, where I was informed by the Sergt who had preceded me one day and by colored sources, that there were believe 12 & 17 men there, who had barricaded the house, and were determined to resist all authority. I approached the house cautiously, surrounded, and entered it between 4:15 the morning of the 5th inst, and found there Mr. Blanchard sick and in bed, and two young men who were there sitting up with a boy who was also sick. I fed my horses from first light, took Mr. Blanchard with me to show me the residences of the other men, and proceeded a distance of ten miles, summoned and entered the house of Robt Lampkin at about 1.PM, found from his family and servants that he had been away from home since last Tuesday
