General Tillison
Head of Freedman's Bureau
for the State of Georgia

General
I beg respectfully at your hands transportation for me & my family through the State of Georgia- that is from Eufaula (on the Alabama & Georgia line) through to Augusta & thence to Savannah. I am a refugee here - am a widow with five young children - am for the present utterly destitute and have for over two months been living on U S rations. My property consist entirely of lands lying on the Ashley River & within three miles of the city of Charleston. These lands are now held by the Freedmans Bureau. I am told I can recover them
