Genl
I have the honor to report, that I commence today the removal of the Guyton Hospital to this city, as per written order of Maj Genl Howard. I shall prosecute the work with all the energy at my controll.

Genl Brennan will render me all the ass't he can in the way of transportation. Details of men, etc. But I hardly know where I shall get the money to pay the carpenters that I have to employ, as the military authorities cannot furnish any. Genl Howard told me it would be paid through the War Department, but I am not advised how I am to procure it. Please instruct me in the premises.

I am getting the affairs connected with this office so arranged that I shall be able to advise you in detail of everything concerning its workings. Each officer with me has specific duties, and I expect everything will be elaborately executed and recorded, as I shall supervise the whole.

I shall be thankfull for any orders or suggestions you may see fit to furnish me. I sent a telegram to Capt Deane for a copy of Genl Howards order about Fuel Rations etc. For use of Genl Brannon.

I am Genl Very Respectfully your obt servt
