I have the honor to report that Genl Brannan has placed in my hands Two thousand (2000) dollars surplus funds which was collected by him to carry on the city government while in his charge.

This fund tho Genl thinks ought to be used in Savannah for School or other purposes, in behalf of Freedmen Etc because it was collected by tax upon the people here.

There is some hundreds of dollars due on account of Refugees, Hospital and other incidental matters, a little for rent of Schools for Colored some fixtures etc.

I have the money deposited. What disposition shall I make of it?
