Sparta Ga.
11th. Dec. 1865.

General
There is some excitement in this community from an apprehension that some aggressive movement is contemplated by the negroes. There is evidence which satisfies men who are usually cool and prudent, that the negroes are collecting arms and ammunition, and are holding secret drills. Dr. Alfrind who will hand you these lines, can give you the particulars of the evidence. I myself have not been brought to a fixed conclusion that mischief is intended, but I think the indications of it are too important to be entirely neglected.
