General
I have the honor to report that immediately upon the receipt of your telegram of the 20th inst., relative to a confederate flag being displayed at the fair now held in this City, I ordered an investigation to be made by Capt. Easton, Provost Marshall, who was unable to find any indication whatever corroborating the statement made in your telegram, and was assured by the manager of the fair, that anything of the kind would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

I am General
Very Respectfully
Your Obedt Servant
