Bureau of Refugees Freedmen and Abandoned Lands Office, Acty. Asst. Commt, State of Georgia, Augusta, Ga., December 1st, 1865 General: I have the honor to represent that owing to the large number of white troops mustered, out in this Department it is found impossible to obtain a detailed man for clerk in this office, Tho clerk heretofore employed has just been mustered out. I respectfully request authority to employ one citizen clerk. I can secure a good competent clerk for one hundred dollars ($100.00) pr month. I shall have sufficient funds in my hands to pay him. I am General. Very Respectfully, Your Obt. Servant. regs Davis Tillson Prig - Genl Vols., and A. Asst. Commissioner. Major Genl O. O. Howard Commissioner & c. Washington D.C. Official: Max [[?]] A.
