Waynesboro Hour 29 1865

Dear Sir

your note informing me that the negroes I desired to work the next crop could be had by my visiting Augusta.

I am so very busy in my profession that I cannot leave home for several days. therefore I have this day written Mr H.F. Rupel of Augusta and sent him a power of Attorney to Contract with you in my name for the hands.

I only want two good strong men for the next year, and will as I before stated give $10 per month or two good acre of cotton to each, and allow them to select the cotton themselves, feed cloth & pay Doct Bill. If the contract is made I would wish it made binding on the hands to remain during the year, I wish them sent by r Road to Waynesboro and direct the lands to S. C. Garlick of Waynesboro. who will direct them to my plantation ten miles south of Waynesboro, and
