Dear Sir  I have Recivd your communication informing me of my - appointment from the Freedmens Bureau together with the instructions.  I have communicated with Dr E.C. Hood he has not Received his appointment as yet I presume from the fact that he is not convenient to his present Post Office he will write you on the Reception of the Documents.  I will except the appointment 

Dr Hood & myself will take the County as A.W. Redding is in the State Senate & will be absent.  I had an interview with Capt Newton, the Commander of our county he appears pleased that there is an appointment made in the County &c

I feel that it is a Responsible office to fill, and can only say that I will discharge my duty to the best of my ability giving both white & black justice where the freedman is about to leave his family Wife & children in many cases
