Mason Supt of Ed. 1 enclo With recommendation that $300 be appropriated June 1st Returned approved, the expenditure will be made in the usual manner only for school building. | New Orleans May 27th 1869. Forwards petition of Anthony Overton &c others. Trustees 1st Bapt. Church (col'd) of Monroe, La. for assistance in erecting a school house at that place. They pledge themselves to make proper disposition of funds and material if instructed to them. |

| May 31st 1869. #68. | Louisiana E.C. Beman. Col & D.O. June 1st Referred A.C.Q.M. | New Orleans May 28th 1869. States that he was ordered not to sell the Bureau Stables until further orders; that the buildings stand upon land rented; five lots at $12 each, total $60 per month; that the uper part of stables is used for storage of school furniture, property &c. and will be required from time to time as schools discontinue &c and as number of lots can be reduced from five to two at $12 each total $24 per month. Suggests that he be authorized to release three lots and retain two for use of the Bureau |

Vol 5. | New Orleans May 22nd 1869 Reports that in  Feby 1867 the freedmen of Jackson East Feliciana Parish purchased a building from Mrs M.D. Murdoch for $350 paid $97 leaving unpaid a balance of $253 which they are unable to meet: that the building has been used for school, church, and Republican Club Meetings: that they have purchased a lot, which is paid for and title vested in M.E. church. Recommends an appropriation of $500 to pay debts and make necessary addition and repairs. |

| May 31st 1869. #70 | Littlefield S. late Bureau Agent June 2st Returned with the information that this Bureau has no longer any power to take care of such cases. | Smithfield. Ky. May 24th 1869. States that there is a crazy woman now strolling about the streets, for which the civil authorities refuse to care for, as their Legislature has made no provisions for colored persons deranged. Asks if the Freedmen's Bureau can do anything in the case. |

Returned E.B.p. 420. Vol 5. | New Orleans May 27th 1869. Forwards letter of John A Reiley, requesting an appropriation of $300. or $500. to aid in erecting a suitable building for school and religious purposes for freedmen at Oak Grove Plantation East Feliciana Parish. With recommendation that $400. be appropriated to be paid by draft upon bills, rendered by him. |

Ass'n for an appropriation to erect a schoolbuilding for Freedmen at Amite City La. A lot 210 by 300 ft. has been donated by Wm Butler to Am Miss. Ass. of N.Y. with usual pledges. cost of material $531.41 With remark. This is one of the application he has already forwarded asking for $400. asks that the aid may be furnished. |
