Jones York, stating that his ward has over 450 voters and no school privilege requests assistance in erection of school building at "Avoca Plantation" Bunches Bend, Carroll Parish, La, that if lumber can be furnished, he will donate land & pledge erection of the building &c. With remark. Genl Hatch made an appropriation of $1.394.45 for material for McMillan's Plantation about 10 miles from Col York's. This material stills lies on the Levee at Elton Landing  Recommends that the Lumber at Elton Landing be divided, provided Col York will remove it free of expense to the Govt as there is ample material for two school buildings, &c |
