States that on Nov 1" 1868, he was appd. by the Com'r. in person as Chaplain of Freedmens Hospital at that place, at a salary of $50. per mo. received from D.O. his salary for Nov & Dec. Has continued his services, but not needing his salary has not applied for it since Dec 31" until June 1"; Was informed by C.D.O. that he could not pay his salary for Jan & Feby. but could pay him for March, but not for April and May, as he had no authority to do so. Desires to have this matter investigated and adjusted so that he may receive what is justly due him. Asks if his office expired May 31" 1869 and also, if his school can be continued. |
