[[note]] Paris 10533 Andirons Jupiter & Juno [[/note]]

Dear Mr. Seligmann:
I am delighted to hear that you purchased the two fine andirons of which you sent a photograph. I have not the slightest doubt that they are the work of Alexandro Vittore, and they seem to be of excellent quality.

The two figures at the top are well known from other models, but the base is of extraordinary design, unknown to me in any other example of andirons.

I was so sorry that you did not have more success with your exhibition in Detroit. I did all I could to get the people interested, but you know how difficult it is to start the collectors in a new field out here. I am sending you a catalof the exhibition which we have here now, and you will see at the end of the introduction that I spoke of how important it is that the collectors in town not only collect patinings but also works of decorative arts of the same period. In any case, I have no doubt that your exhibition has been of considerable educational value, and that it will bear some fruit some time in the near future.

Mr. Whitcomb will surely call on you while he is in Paris. I wrote your address for him again before he left.

With kind regards to M. Germain, I am

Yours very sincerely,
W. R. Valentiner

A Mr Vaughan from Toronto may ask you about the Raeburn (Lord Roseberry) which I recommended to him.
