Dr. W.R. Valentiner,
Detroit Institute of Art,
Detroit, Mich.

My dear Dr. Valentiner :-

As soon as I got back to New York, I looked into the matter of the cabins on the Dulio and the Conté Verdé. I am sorry to say these boats are terribly packed, therefore I was unable to accommodate Mrs. Valentiner,

However there is a boat of the French FABRE Line which is sailing on January 10th. I understand she is a good boat, the name is "PATRIA" (16,000 tons); sailing from New York on January 10th, and due in Naples on January 26th, after stopping at the following places :- Azores Islands, Algiers, Palermo, Madeira and Naples. Will you let me know what you want me to do about this matter. I understand there is some room still available on that boat.

I saw Mrs. Daniel Guggenheim a few days ago. You will most probably remember that I introduced you to her when you both happened to be at the Galleries here last Spring. She enquired about you, and I think she would be very pleased to see you and to show you her pictures if you cared to see them. I can perhaps arrange that although they are in her Country home, but I do not think they would interest you very much, as she has one Van Dyck and one Rembrandt for the time being, and I believe you know them both.
