A painting of the French 19th century School by Thomas COUTURE, signed "T.C." and dated "1849." "Portrait of Barroilhet".
The personage is seen in a half-length portrait, arms folded, head turned three-quarters to the left, gazing at the spectator. His hair is rather long, and he has a mustache and a pointed beard. He wears a bluish-green suit with black velvet collar and cuffs.

Thoms COUTURE, (Senlis, 1815 - Villiers-le-Bel, 1879), was a pupil of Gros and of Paul Delaroche. In 1847 he painted his famous picture which is now in the Luxembourg Museum, entitled, "Romans during the decadence of the Empire".
