The Detroit Institute of Arts of the City of Detroit ARTS COMMISSION RALPH H. BOOTH, PRESIDENT WILLIAM J. GRAY, ALBERT KAHN, EDSEL B. FORD, COMMISSIONERS W. R. VALENTINER, ART DIRECTOR CLYDE H. BURROUGHS, SECRETARY December 19, 1927 RS Mr. Germain Seligmann, 3 East 51st Street, New York City. Dear Mr. Seligmann: It was very kind of you to inquire about me so frequently during my sickness. Fortunately I am improving now and I am able to do a little work again. I am sending you herewith the two photographs of the Van der Helst with my statements on the back, and I enjoyed very much seeing the originals. I would be glad if you could send me some photographs of the Benevenuto Cellini figure which you sold last summer, as I need it very much for an article which I am writing on the bronze statuettes by this artist. I would be very glad also if you could tell me who owns the sculpture; or if you prefer not to tell me, I could put it down under your name. With best wishes, Very sincerely yours, W. R. Valentiner WRV/C
