V GS/TP April 15th, 1930. Dear Dr. Valentiner: Although I am over here for only a very few days I do wish to send you these lines to inquire how you are and tell you how sorry I am to see so little of you. I am sending you by same mail but under separate Registered cover, a Supplement to the "Histoire du Portrait en France au XVIe Siècle" by Louis Dimier, of which I sent you the three first volumes last year. In this supplement, Mr. Dimier has made a study of twelve drawings by François Quesnel, which were a remarkable discovery which I made several years ago and which come from the famous Fevret de Fontette Collection - which collection formed the foundation of the Bibliothèque Nationale and the rest of which is in the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford. These drawings today are in a private collection in New York. I am likewise sending you a copy of the "Gazette des Beaux-Arts", May 1927 in which the exhibition of these drawings, which I arranged in Paris, is commented upon at length; and also a little catalogue of an exhibition made about 1830-1840, specially ordered by King Louis-Philippe of France and after which the engravings which you know were made I do hope that you are enjoying good health and that before long I shall have the pleasure of seeing you in Europe. Believe me to be, Yours very sincerely, (Germain Séligmann) Dr. W. R. Valentiner, Detroit Institute of Arts, 704 East Jefferson Avenue, Detroit, Michigan.
