Wa THE DETROIT INSTITUTE OF ARTS OF THE CITY OF DETROIT ARTS COMMISSION RALPH H. BOOTH, PRESIDENT ABERT KAHN EDSEL B.FORD CHARLES T. FISHER, COMMISSIONERS W. R. VALETINER, ART DIRECTOR CLYDE H. BURROUGHS, SECRETARY April 5, 1930. Mr. Rolf H. Waegen, Jacques Seligmann and Company, 3 East 51st Street, New York City. Dear Mr. Waegen: I am sorry to hear in your letter of March 27 that you are confined to bed. This is certainly weather for bad colds that one can't shake off. I have had one, on and off, since last September and at times it took the form of rheumatism, so that I had to limp about on a cane. It is too bad that this cold kept you from seeing our tapestry exhibition, but at the same time I feel quite relieved that you were not here because the weather was so ghastly that it might have brought on a new bout of the flu, and I should have felt directly responsible. It will be nice to see you before you go to Europe, and I shall have to tell you a few things which may interest you, and which I do not care to write about. The tapestries were already dispatched when your wire came, and I trust that you have by this time received them in good condition. They were especially beautiful in the little corner gallery where they were hung by themselves, and they seemed to be a nucleus of interest to the visitors. Much of the success of the exhibition I ascribe very largely to your generous collaboration. Let me thank you again for your kindness in sending us the beautiful tapestries. Looking forward with pleasure to seeing you soon, I am Very sincerely yours, Adèle Weibel Mrs. A. C. Weibel, Curator of Textiles ACW:JH
