5 East 57th street
New York City 22

Dear Mr. Seligman:

Our practice is to give the author not only a small (very small) check but also 25 reprints. You and Mrs. Seligman will therefore receive reprints enough for yourselves automatically.

The reprints in this quantity cost us fifty cents apiece to print. If we published a larger number, let us say 100, the cost would be somewhat smaller but nonetheless well over twenty-five cents apiece.

Do you think that the Prince de Broglie could sell such reprints at this figure at Chantilly?

From what I know of the smaller French museum, it seems most unlikely that there would be a sale for any publication at such a figure. Nonetheless if you wish to discuss it with the Prince and let us know, we shall be happy to hear from you.

I can only say, however, that we would not be able, from our own resources, to print the extra reprints and send them on consignment to Chantilly. We would have to sell them outright, of course at cost.

Sincerely yours,
