March 14, 1956

Mr. Germain Seligmann
5 East 57th Stret
New York 22, New York

Dear Mr. Seligmann:

Thank you for your kind letter of March 10th enclosing photographs of the pieces which you discussed earlier. You are perfectly right -- the pistol is indeed very beautiful. What a pity that it is not French! I am returning the photograph to you.

So far as the snuff box is concerned, it is a wonderful example and I will be delighted to have it. Would you care to tell me what you want me to do about the insurance?

So far as the large clock is concerned, I do not think that it will help us very much. It is a wonderful object, of course, but we already have two clocks of the Louis XVI period, somewhat similar in shape to yours, and I do not think that it will help us to display a third one. Thanks for suggesting it all the same.

With cordial regards, I am

Sincerely yours,
