Dear Mr. Richardson:

May I inquire whether you have any news to impart as regards the beautiful Lombardy bas-relief. Should you hope to obtain a satisfactory decision from your trustees, do keep it a while longer. On the other hand, should a negative one have been reached, would you then be good enough to return it to New York.

Knowing how much you admire this truly exceptional and so very rare work of art, I have been wondering whether matters could be facilitated by extending terms of payment. Should this be the case, please do not hesitate to let me know, for I feel certain that any reasonable suggestion extended over a period of, let us say, two years would be agreeable to me.

It is a long time since I have had the pleasure of seeing you here, and irrespective of this pending matter, I hope to have this privilege in the near future. With personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
