Detroit

October 6, 1954

Dear Mr. Richardson:

Do have my best thanks for your kind letter of October fourth, and let me say first how happy I am to read of your keen interest in my Lombardy bas-relief. In fact, the warmth of the feeling you express leads me to modify the stand I had taken without being fully posted on the situation. I did not know about the "big profect" which stands at present in the way of this purchase, but as long as you have such hopes and a keen desire of acquiring it, it would be too selfish on my part to ask you to return it now.

You tell me you will see the president of your board in the near future; and should she share in your enthusiasm, do keep the bas-relief, and do let me hear from you at your convenience about further developments.

With personal regards,
Sincerely yours,
Germain Seligman
