Dear Mr. Seligman:

Thank you for sending us your excellent pamphlet of the Redon Exhibit. It is a pleasure to be included in your mailing list and we congratulate you on the importance of this exhibit.

May I ask a favor of you? We have had some happy relations with Mr. Chester Tripp of Chicago. He has given us a valued painting and is loaning us a Swedish tapestry, 7 ft. 2 in. by 9 ft which he tells us he purchased from you several years ago (about 20 yrs. he thinks). He intimated that if we could secure a satisfactory evaluation, which could be used for tax purposes, we might hope for the gift of the tapestry.

His memory tells him that he paid about $8,000 at the time of the purchase. Could you be of help to us in this matter? I assume that your records would have all the information that you need, however if this is not the case I shall be happy to send you a photograph of the tapestry.

Again, our congratulations upon the Redon Exhibition.

Sincerely,
Siegfried R Weng
