Dear Dr. Bodmer:

From the shipping advice you were good enough to return - acknowledging the safe arrival of the drawing by SOUFFLOT - I was distressed to notice that the latter only reached you on January 9th.

I have immediately started an investigation, as this delay in shipping and delivery seems to be inexplicable. From the Emery Air Freight Company I received the assurance that it actually left on December 11th, by SWISS AIR, Flight #115, airway bill # 4208752. I am wondering therefore whether the delay, in part at least, could not be blamed [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] on the Geneva airport. Whatever its cause, I do want you to know that I deplore this incident.

May I express the hope that you are fully enjoying this drawing which has interested several art historians for, besides its esthetic merit, it constitutes an historical document.

Your check in settlement was duly acknowledged by my Firm, and your promptness in forwarding it was much appreciated.

With all good wishes,

Yours very sincerely,

Germain Seligman
