No. 4286

A very rare marble bas-relief, Florentine work of the second half of the 15th century by Francesco di Simone FERROCCI. It is of circular shape and represents the Virgin with the Child Jesus. It was formerly in the Pozzo Palace at Imola, and then in the collection of the Countess Rossi-Grabinski, Bologna. Shown in the Exhibition of Sacred Art at San Francesco of Bologna in 1900... Cited,, in Archivio Storico dell'Ante, 1892, page 381, (published by A. Venturi), where an engraving is also given; in the "Rassegna d'Arte," 1901, page 62, (published by M. C. Martelli), with illustration; in the great work of Dr. Bode on the "Tuscan Sculptors", (introduction page 150); in the Storia dell'Arte Italiana of Venturi, (Vol. VI, page 730).
