October 23, 1973

Dear Mr. Levey;

You find me highly embarrassed, and I do hope you will be good enough to excuse the mistake I made on congratulating you on a knighthood.

It was a rumor, I must admit, but it applied so well to your accomplishments that I didn't doubt it.

The French would say that it was "de mauvais gout", and indeed it was.

May I thank you for your so very nice letter of October 17th, and with very best wishes,

Yours sincerely,

Germain Seligman
