Dear Sir Michael;

It is only now that I learn of the series of awards granted you this year, first the Knighthood, and then the appointment to the Directorship of your great Museum.

Of course, though quite belatedly, I wish to convey to you my sincerest congratulations.

Those [[strikethrough]]you[[/strikethrough]] who like me, have followed and enjoyed your splendid publications, are indeed happy to know that such works testifying to your knowledge and taste have thus received their due recognition.

In fact, I only now read of your new book on French 18th century art, and am much looking forward to studying it.

May I express the hope that should you come to the United States you will give me the priviledge [[privilege]] of your visit and thus give me the pleasure of seeing younbefore [[you before]] my next stay in London.

With personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
