New York, New York 10022 November 5, 1968 Dear Mr. Pope-Hennessy:- It was indeed such a nice surprise to see you here when I expected you to be hard at work in London. As usual, I enjoyed much hearing your comments about the few items I showed you. In accordance with your request, I take pleasure in sending you herein a pamphlet relating to my exquisite marble "Christ the Saviour" - French = Ile-de-France - early XIVth century. It contains two photographs - they are unfortunately rather unsatisfactory - as well as the opinions of several art historians referring to the exceptional iconographic representation of one foot bare and one foot shod. The prince of this lovely sculpture, you will recall, is $20,000 (TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS). Trusting these lines will reach you after a safe homeward journey, and with best personal regards, Yours, Germain Seligman J.W. Pope-Hennessy, Esq.
