New York, New York 10022

December 20, 1968

Dear Mr. Watson:

My Assistant, Mrs. T. D. Parker, told me you had dropped in at the galleries a while ago and I do want you to know how exceedingly sorry I am to have missed your pleasant visit. An unfortunate bout with the Hong Kong flu kept me away for quite a few days and I only now have resumed my regular activities.

I am all the more disappointed not to have had this opportunity of seeing you as I was anxious to congratulate you on the remarkable catalogue and studies you published recently. What splendid and thorough work you are doing, indeed.

Should you return to New York this season, please do not fail to give me a ring, as both Mrs. Seligman and I would greatly enjoy having your company at home.

With the Season's Greetings and all good wishes, and personal regards,

Yours,

Germain Seligman

P.S. I understand that your attention had been held by a small drawing by P.P. PRUD'HON representing a seal of the Emperor - is there anything you would like me to do in this connection ?
