Dera Mr. Cecil:

My current "Master Drawings" exhibition has delayed my thanking you for your so pleasant lines of October 14.

As you correctly deduced the sculptures placed by my Father in the gardens of Sagan were decorative but were definitely of no esthetic merit. Many years back, a small illustrated brochure, by Seymour de Rici, was published on Sagan, its history and gardens, which, if I am not mistaken, showed some of these ornaments.

This just in case you should find such a publication in your library. Unfortunately, I do not have any - the remaining copies must have been destroyed with the rest of our archives in Paris during the Nazi occupation.

Your suggestion of having prints made from the negative of the Wallace Bagatelle inventory is indeed most welcome and I am delighted at the thought of receiving them.

With best regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman

P.S. You know from my book that Sagan became the Polish Embassy and I can think of no reason for their removing these groups - should your curiosity entice you to call on the Ambassador..........
