Dear Mr. Cecil:

Since I had the pleasure of seeing you I had the opportunity in Europe of seeing the Burlington Magazine with your article on the Wallace Collection. I wish to send you my very sincerest congratulations. It sets forth such a clear picture of the building up of this important group of works of art, which I enjoyed so much seeing anew in your company.

Also of expecial interest are the reproductions showing the interior with the assembled masterpieces in their old setting and of course I particularly enjoyed viewing the Cagliostro, the Coysevox, the TocquƩ, and Sophie A

While you were probably away on your vacation I took the liberty of writing you to inquire whether you could instruct your office to send me photographs of the magnificent paintings by Philippe de Champaigne. Should you not be in a position to do this because all of them may not have been photographed could you advise me as to the steps I should take now in order to obtain these prints.

Realizing that such an undertaking represents a considerable expense I will send your office a check as soon as I will have received an indication of such outlays.

I am considering publishing a book on French 17th century paintings, hence the particular interest the reproductions from the Wallace Collections will have for me.

Looking forward to your kind reply and with personal regards,
Sincerely yours,
(Germain Seligman)
