April 14, 1952

Dear Dick:
Answering your letter of April 11, I am sorry to say that I will not be able to lend the great Delacroix watercolor to your exhibition.

As you will recall when we talked this matter over several weeks ago I expressed my doubt as the collector who has been right along interested in it would probably be in New York around the beginning of May.

A note from him just received confirms this, and I am of course anxious to be able to show him this exceptional watercolor, and feel certain you will understand this.

I regret that there were no other drawings among those I showed you which could have fit within the scope of your exhibition, as I would have been happy to have my firm represented.

I have made a note of Mr. Plimpton's visit between April 21 and 28th, and am much looking forward to showing him the Rodin bronze.

As per your desire I am sending you under separate cover photographs of this piece, on the back of which you will find its dimensions.

Sincerely,
(Germain Seligman)
