Dear Roy:

My assistant, Jerry Gilliland, tells me that you have decided to retire after 38 years of service to the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Please accept my thanks for your many years of work on behalf of the Native people of Alaska. 

I understand that you plan to continue your service to your people in other capacities. I wish you well in your retirement and in this new endeavor. The government is privileged to have people of your caliber working for it.

I will always recall with fond memories the feast of Native foods you prepared for me during my July, 1977 visit to Anchorage.
