Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
OFFICE AGENT FOR SPALDING COUNTY
Griffin, Ga, Feby 10 1866

Gen. Davis Tillson
Act. Ass't Commissioner
State of Georgia

Dear Sir,

I have thought it necessary to take some action in the matter of an abandoned property in this city, and wish now to know what further to do. The facts in the case are as follows:

Some time during the war the house and lot in question, belonging to a loyal citizen of the United States, was sequestrated and sold to a Mr. John Low. The proper owner has not been heard from since the surrender of the Rebel Armies, and Mr. Low claimed and held possession of the property until I was appointed agent, when I notified him that the property came under my control. He had, however torn down and removed the principal
