In person appeared before me E.W. Beak who being sworn saith, that the lot & appurtenances situated on Broadway in the city of Griffin now in controversy between John Jones and the agent of the Freedman's Bureau, was the property of S.B. & I.D. Stoddard, & I was the agent of the parties until the lot was sequestered by the confederate government & purchased by said Jones, when I ceased to act at their attorney for said premises, & so far as I know & believe the property stil belongs to said Stoddard if it reverted on the cessation of hostilities.

sworn to & subscribed before me this 10th July 1866
