Mr Matthews informs me that you intend investigating the outrages to which I alluded in my letter.  This is right - and I doubt not that the prompt punishment of these outrages will not more to prevent their repetition than all that can be done by the press or pulpit -

I thought I would suggest to you that in consequence of the quality of Lands - many persons can better afford to give five hundred dollars a year for first class hands than others can one hundred   Most of our lands will not average those Hundred lbs of seed cotton per acre or five bushels of corn -
