There are, (so far as I can learn) but few Freedmen but what are imployed, in this county, but there are a good many women, about town that have no visable means of support, and refuse to contract, and I am forced to believe, get their living by dishonest means.

Any directions will be thankfuly received.  Give the rule for stamping Contracts.

Is there any remuneration attached to the office except the usual fees? as there is some expence for stationary and office rent, &c.  The fees are hardly sufficient to pay the agent for time consumed.
