Sir, The facts in the case of Charles Lockhart, son of M.M. Lockhart are as follows: A Freedman by the name of Lewis, who sells pies at the car shed for a livlihood, dunned Charles Lockhart for twenty-five cents that he owed him for a pie he had bought some time previously, when Lockhart refused to pay him or give him any satisfaction The Freedman then said he would report him to the agent of the Bureau, when Lockhart turned upon him and used abusive epithets. The Freedman telling him he was only in fun and tried to get away from him, but Lockhart followed him up with a brickbat and swore he would split his god damned brains out
