General,
Permit us to intrude on your much employed time by informing you of the success which has attended us thus for in pitching our crop. We have planted and replanted (250) two hundred & fifty acres of corn and have a good a stand as was ever grown and our stock improving and at present every thing looks very encouragingly and if blessed by kind Providence with a good season we shall make an excellent crop. General we very much need a school teacher for our children and desire you to send us Mary Gilbert "Cold" who taught Squire Shermans
