2. After being undocumented he legalized after 9 years.  Family
3. moved in afterwards.
4. reclaimed chicano deragatory term in 60's.
5. Went to Harvard.  Was farm worker.  Very isolated in culture of
6. poverty.  Didn't realize all weren't like that.  At 12 or 13 got
7. TB.  Was sent to sanatarium for a year.  Was in isolation
8. in room alone.  finished school work in 3 or 4 weeks for full year.  Then had time to read and find out about rest of country.  Also views some had about poor people: lazy, dumb, etc.
