1 Carlos Santana: big influence on him and all musicians of era.
used traditional instruments w/ electric guitar. Original garage band was full set from Santana's 2nd album. Then got hired Santana's band. Final after 2 weeks. Friend there for 38 years. 
Now playing with each other's bands. 
Tito Fuentez & Catia (SP?) Lopez: 2 of the greatest musicians of 20th cent. played on several albums of his. Toured w/ Lopez

4 Feels like he doesn't do many different things. Just facets of the one thing he is! LA hip-hop needed to make $ through more than just corporate CDs from trunk, t-shirts, energy drinks. 
2 Music industry is a hassle. Must inform self (new musician) about styles, music theory, play at least 1 instrument well.
4 Hip-Hop contains a message of the hustle. Most don't want to do the work.
