Became interested in pottery as a teenager through reading. In the book Robin Carusoe the people were making things of clay, which piqued his interest in pottery. Re-read the parts about clay. Found a teacher (a.) Age 16, he decided clay became part of his life + body, and understood this was his life calling. Only 1 thing he ♡ more than clay m 
 that's his wife. When he became a potter there were several teachers. One was also the founder of museum of woodcarving. He's the one who taught him how to learn & love the old traditions. This is his real teacher.

Pottery dates back to 4th millennium BC in that region. In wine region, found proof of wine making at that time, which would have required pottery

Founded in 2009 in Gorisis (sp?) in S of Armenia. Post-soviet era, women were especially debt without work. This foundation gave opportunity to work as restore art form. Also their region had great potential for tourism. Organized an exhibit, invited women to how their wares. To viewers' surprise, women are doing wonderful things.
Found it was expensive to bring thread from [[yereucea?]] & abroad so why not start producing them locally? They began doing so
