(1) Rachel is deaf and was worried about her accent. She grew up in Baltimore of A. Jewish family. Talked about her mother's roast chicken and matzo soup. Lemon meringue pies on sherbert. Busy day food was chicken cacciatorie and tuna casserole. Potato puffs with chicken fat.

(2) She spent spring break in college with her Armenian grandmother learning to make Boerma. Her father ran into her out here at the festival.

(3) Memories of her mother's dipping strings of walnuts into fruit boiled down, then hung on clothes line to dry.

(4) Richard's grandparents on both sides lost their 1st spouses in genocide, and their next in America. He cooks baklava, pilaf, grape leaves and pass it down to his daughter. He is vegetarian.
