• Two case involving development of lace making & Qanon string instrument during Soviet and Post Soviet eras

• Armine comes from small city in Armenia and lace making became prominent there in 1960s when it was beginning to be offered at school 

• Pre 1925 Qanon instrument was passed down by word of mouth to those who wished to learn it
- After 1925 schools were opened where Qanon was taught
- Primarily played by men until 1950s

• Decline in Qanon use and other arts in mid 2000s but has now rebounded in part due to funding from government

• lace was used for home decoration but now its being used for artistry and clothing
- lace making declined in 90s but rebounded in 2000s
