GS: This is about a specific festival in a specific
neighborhood of Barcelona. 100 years ago Gracia was a separate village.

JC: 19th century...Barcelona behind walls was an
early settlement of moving outside the walls. They did
not want to repeat Barcelona - bigger strees, larger
squares. In 1817 - 1700 people, 18 yeats late 60,000.
9th biggest city. Basically new people from other areas of Cataluna. In 1897, becomes part of Barcelona.
1st tram - Ramblas to Gracia. 1st Busline,
1st metro. City kept building heights down so
housing costs more. In '90, Spain joins EEC and
outsiders move in. Higher housing costs. Rents are
up, up, up. VV expensive now.
Most streets are pedestrian only.
